| New Zealand Overview |
New Zealand can be named the ‘New Provence’. In the last ten years lavender has experienced a true renaissance in this part of the world.
In many ways, New Zealand has transformed lavender into a ‘modern’ product. The clean, crisp look of their products, the natural and organic approach, environmentally friendly packaging and shipping procedures are only a few examples of how lavender has stepped over the threshold from the classical to the modern.
The time to visit New Zealand is between October to March. Lavender fields are in full bloom between November and January. Discover this part of the world with your 'lavender eyes’.

Whitebay World of Lavender |
Welcome to Whitebay World of Lavender. Nestled against the hills in Hawke’s Bay’s picturesque Esk Valley, Whitebay is a wholly New Zealand and family owned business, which opens 7 days a week throughout the year.
More than 20 thousand lavender plants are grown, picked and distilled here and used to create a range of cosmetic products, all of which can be purchased on site. Visitors can also enjoy an information packed tour of the lavender farm and distillery and while away some time enjoying fine food and coffee while viewing the lavender plants.
Whitebay is most striking in summer, when thousands come to enjoy the purple sweep of lavender in full bloom. Few people could fail to be seduced by the intoxicating aroma and persistent humming of the bees in a lavender field like this one. However Whitebay is a fascinating stop on a trip to Hawke’s Bay in any season.
Owners Liz and Max Patmoy are passionate about lavender and always keen to share their knowledge and love of the plant.

Lavender Impressions |
Lavender Impressions Lavender Farm is New Zealand’s first Bio-Gro certified Lavender Farm. The owner, being a professional chef, has used lavender as tea, as flavouring for ice cream, in custard puddings, in honey, and in baking for many years. Organically grown lavender has a larger mineral content that helps to enhance the immune system; and this sparked the idea to grow lavender varieties organically on a commercial base.
After consulting with established lavender farmers a suitable property was found in Manakau; located one-hour north of Wellington, between the west-side of the Tararua mountain range and the Tasman Sea, with perfect microclimate conditions.
Surrounded by organic minded neighbours and landowners, this area is environmentally balanced with clean stream water and a huge variety of native birdlife and plants. The quality outweighs the quantity. The farm produces an absolutely optimal health product to enjoy.

| Birar Dell Garden Nursery & Lavender Farm |
Briar Dell’s Lavender Farm has been established 8 years ago. Hardy English lavenders grow well in the Central Otago climate. Hot dry summers bring out the full vibrant colours and strong sweet fragrance of lavender.
The main cultivators grown are Lavandula x intermedia ‘Grosso’ & L. xi ‘Impress Purple’, for oil & drying. Lavandula angustifolia ‘Pacific Blue’ for oil & drying, Lavandula angustifolia ‘Hidcote’, for drying.
Early angustifolia lavenders start flowering early to mid December, Intermedia lavenders follow on from late December through January. The flowers are harvested around the beginning of February for oil distillation. The lavender is in full flower in mid January and is at its peek for viewing.

Lavender Downs |
Lavender Downs Lavender Farm is situated in West Melton, Canterbury just 15-20 minutes from the centre of Christchurch and 10-15 minutes from Christchurch International Airport.
It is set against a picturesque background of the Southern Alps with blooming lavender fields en masse that creates a sense of tranquility with its myriad of soothing colours and its heady fragrance.
The steady hum of bees working the lavender fields and gardens adds to that gentle sense of serenity and well being. Lavender Downs grows many types of lavender. Some is used for the production of pure lavender essential oil, used as fresh cut flowers, some is dried and stripped for gifts and crafts sold from the gift shop on site.
Plants are also grown for display and research.
The two display gardens feature over 60 different varieties of lavender along with other ornamental plants in a delightful garden setting and feature oamaru stone sculptures created by Christchurch sculptors. A small admission fee applies to the larger of the two gardens.
A large Lavandula collection built up over 20 years currently contains over 300 different plants from around the world. The national collection has been held since 1987 when Virginia McNaughton was asked to undertake such a project by the Herb Federation of New Zealand. She also holds the herb collection.

| Akaroa Organics |
The organically grown products at Akaroa Organics are produced on the side of an extinct volcano overlooking the tranquil waters at the head of Akaroa Harbour. The sea-side village of Akaroa is 10 minutes drive away with Christchurch being just an hour's drive away. The stunning outlook down over Akaroa Harbour and around the cliffs of the former volcano, and the various micro climates, are dominating first impressions.
The property is now a place of forest hues, sky blue and sea green. Established in 1989 the property is just under 50 acres or 20 hectares. Originally consisting of just four bare paddocks, there are now over 10,000 trees planted, native bush remnants fenced, a predator programme and an eco-source planting programme implemented. Native bird-life abounds with kereru/native pigeon, piwakawaka/fantail, titi pounamu/riflemen and pipipi/brown creeper all found here. Around 1/3 of the property is under high value timber production, 1/3 is retired from grazing and the final 1/3 continues to be grazed or is in commercial production of crops.
Akaroa Organics is being developed to reflect our belief in an organic future for New Zealand.
We look forward to working with you to grow the organic approach in New Zealand.

| Waiheke Blue |
At Waiheke Blue we organically grow, individually tend and hand harvest our lavenders. The flowers are then steam distilled into a Pure Essential Oil and hand-made into a variety of products at the farm. We use only the highest quality organic and natural plant based ingredients, beeswax and honey. All the vegetable oils are certified organic, cold-pressed and unrefined.
The farm is a partnership group of seven members who share 120 acres of gentle rolling hills covered in pristine native bush. The partners have several organic enterprises including vineyards and olive groves. An organic wine is also produced here, under the label 'Awaroa'.
Waiheke Blue is an enterprise created by Eleanor Bauarschi and her partner, Derek Hayward. As a result of Eleanor spending several years sensitive to chemicals, synthetics and preservatives we decided to produce a range of pure products that anyone could use.
Waiheke Blue's range of products is the culmination of this effort. Also important to us was to unite with and care for the land and to have it support our livelihood. In all of this it has been important to work from a 'heart' space and honour all life. All our products contain something grown right here, we are also a producer and retailer; a cottage industry using ethical business practices.

| Casa Lavanda Lavender Farm |
Casa Lavanda Lavender Farm is situated in the heart of Wine Country Hawke’s Bay New Zealand - just 25 km west of Hastings in the district of Mangatahi. The fertile flats, once famous for its production of New Zealand lamb and beef, are now renowned for their production of top quality New Zealand wine. We arrived here in 1993 knowing this was a dry district, but nothing prepared us for the ensuing drought of the first few years so the idea to grow lavender was literally born of drought. We soon learnt that Mangatahi enjoys a Mediterranean climate with low rainfall, hot dry summers and is a hot spot of sunny Hawke’s Bay.
We have enjoyed ten years sharing Casa Lavanda with friends and tourists and what an exciting, wonderful time it has been. We have been privileged to meet people from all over the world who we would never have met had it not been for tourism. It has been an honour to share our small part of beautiful Hawkes’ Bay with you. We value your ongoing loyalty to Casa Lavanda and our products and we thank you for believing in us and our business.
Many of you are passionate about our product and unashamedly biased towards it, so our decision to opt out of tourism and devote our energies to research, development and distribution of the Casa Lavanda product has been wholeheartedly supported by you. We do appreciate that. Visits to Casa Lavanda are now reserved for friends of Casa Lavanda, exclusive tour groups and private functions by appointment only.
