The Landscape Project & Kitchen Garden - open throughout summer.
This is as close as you will get to a history lesson on how lavender came to Canada! Guided as well as self-guided tours are available through this beautiful historical garden - lovingly restored. Visitor learns about the importance of a Victorian kitchen garden where an abundance of fruit, flowers, vegetables, and herbs, were essential to the kitchen and dining room.
We learn that in 1855 lavender was amongst us here in Canada as the concept of Victorian gardens was copied from England. A series of garden beds and walkways bordered with flowers and herbs, provide a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll where one can easily imagine what it might have been like to be a guest at Dundurn Castle.
