Philosophy | Lavender-Blu Story | Vision Welcome My name is Ludmila Haynos-Owen and I am the founder of Lavender-Blu. To give you a personal welcome, in these few paragraphs I have outlined the key elements pertaining to Lavender-Blu: my philosophy, my story and my future vision. I have designed Lavender-Blu as an online boutique specializing in natural and organic lavender products for you and your family & friends. With each product I aim to promote: harmony, quality, and natural aesthetics. In addition, this site is also an online lavender resource centre aimed to give you, the customer, a wealth of knowledge on how this multifaceted plant can benefit your life! May the information be beneficial to you and above all else ... I hope Lavender-Blu leaves you with the enchanting 'scent' of lavender that will keep you coming back for more ... for there is more to come!
The mantra throughout my life has been the pursuit of happiness. The keystone to the philosophy behind Lavender-Blu is closely related to my life philosophy and is rather simple: Lavender-Blu is dedicated to the pursuit and amplification of happiness through the multifaceted beauty of lavender. Lavender’s natural healing powers, aroma, flavour and colour have for centuries contributed to the improved quality of life world-wide. Through Lavender-Blu, I feel it is my role to communicate this message and broadcast it as ‘loudly’ and widely as possible so that we may continue benefiting from one of nature’s most unique and mystical gifts. As a pharmacist, my Mother managed a traditional apothecary in Europe. It was the kind in which bulk herbs were mixed according to secret recipes to make healing teas, creams were made from scratch using pestle and mortar to help patients with their ailments, and where tinctures and infusions stood lined up like soldiers along the shelf with squiggly illegible labels. My Father, an engineer by trade, but a born sales person and ‘people reader’ would come to help out with customer service relations. As a baby, I was placed on a shelf in a small basket between the chamomile flowers, mint leaves and other herbs while my parents communicated old healing traditions passed-down from generations to the new customers that came through the door. Upon arrival to North America, the scent of the old apothecary laid buried in my subliminal mind. The Canadian large-chain drugstores are not in any way related to the European pharmacies. It was only during my first travels through Europe at the age of 15, that I re-discovered the beauty and mystery of herbs, spices and flowers. Soon after, I began an apprenticeship at a European pharmaceutical company producing homeopathic medication and natural cosmetics and my thirst for knowledge in this direction has never ceased. What followed was a comprehensive study of esthetics and cosmetics at a European School of Esthetics, six years of practical work in producing tinctures, elixirs, syrups, essential oils, cosmetic compounds and powder mixtures. Moreover, experience in the herbal gardens: planning, planting, maintaining, harvesting and processing according to organic and Biodynamic® European standards. Much research went into trying to discover what qualities made the herbs, flowers and spices unique in helping individuals improve their quality of life. Parallel to developing my knowledge in the field of natural cosmetics and medicines, I pursued higher education in the field of communications (obtaining a B.A. in Communications from the University of Ottawa and an M.A. in Communications from the University of Munster, Germany) - eventually I began my career in this direction. Yet, a dream nudged in the core of my belly that would not go away. I somehow wanted to unite the two worlds together. It was not until my children were born, that my interest in natural healing, herbs and flowers rekindled. I was continuously trying to find natural healing methods to cure small ailments, especially for my second child who, as a baby, suffered from chronic diaper rash. Incidentally, or rather coincidentally, it was at this time that as a gift I received a natural lavender cream from an organic lavender farm. I was immediately reminded of lavender’s healing qualities and I started to use the cream as well as a lavender massage oil on my daughter’s skin. The results were incredible. This 'aha' moment was the missing puzzle piece I’ve been searching for. It was the link that inspired and motivated me to look back on my fifteen-year work and research experience in the field of natural cosmetics and medicine AND to combine my knowledge of communications. Out of my wish to become a lavender expert, bearer of good news, and communicator of positive change, Lavender-Blu was born. Throughout history, lavender has been recognized as a pure element of nature – yet one that is extremely complex in its simplicity. Although still shrouded in mystery, there is no doubt that lavender’s colour, aroma, healing qualities and flavour radiate optimism and enhance an individual’s life in positive ways. I cannot imagine a better vision for Lavender-Blu. I hope to introduce products of the highest quality that equally enrich your life in the most positive of ways in the hope of spreading happiness. More importantly, I hope to communicate my knowledge on the subject in the most comprehensive way to the greatest benefit of each and every customer and reader interested in lavender.
